levitation
The levitation effect is when a photo seemingly displays the person in the photo in mid levitation. It is taken by using a quick shutterspeed, and taking the photo whist the person is in the middle of jumping.

The zoom-blur effect
The zoom blur-effect is an effect where ordinary non-moving subjects can look like they are moving. To take a photo using the zoom-blur effect, put your camera at a low shutter-speed, then zoom in/ out whist the shutter is open. It gives the illusion that the subject of the photo is in motion.

ABOUT FRANCESCA WOODMAN
Francesca Woodman (April 3, 1958 – January 19, 1981) is a mid-20th century photographer, who took many pictures of the naked female body. She also explored with long shutter speeds and having blurred characters in the photo, often with their faces being obscured, however the background is still. Her photos are often untitled. Her photos were never noticed while she was alive, along with relationship problems, this caused her to suffer from depression. She commit suicide in 1981, at the age of 22.
Here is an Example of Francesca's work:
Form
The photo is black and white and was taken by Francesca Woodman. The picture is of an old dilapidated room, with a blurred, almost ghostly figure sitting down on the floor, next to some broken tiles. Process The photo has no colour, therefore is taken using black and white film as digital cameras weren't around when she was taking photos. |
Light painting
Light paintings are created by setting up your camera on a tripod, or something to held it up- you will need it, or it won't work. Then you set your camera to a slow shutter speed, maybe 20 seconds. While the shutter its open, draw an image with a light, or torch. When the shutter closes your picture will be revealed. This effect works best in low-light areas. You can play around with objects in the setting E.G drawing light people interacting with the real life objects (see image 1 for an example). You can also try using different colour lights!

I chose these 5 pictures as I think they represent how I was creative with the tasks given. My favourite section in the Movement topic, was Light-Painting, this is because I felt like I could be more creative with it, because the options of what you can do are endless...
